I am a self-proclaimed dog mother. If I am not working or petting my dog, you will probably find me reading in some corner.

M.A. in Clinical Psychology

Through my experience as a therapist, I've found that my authenticity in therapy allows clients to feel truly seen and heard. You will hardly ever find me sitting straight-faced in a session. I might laugh with you, I might cry. My effort will be to create a space for you that provides you with the safety where communication and expression flow. I hope that the genuineness of our therapeutic relationship will provide you with the courage to build meaningful and lasting change. All my therapeutic work is done with an intersectional feminist and trauma-informed lens.

My Therapeutic Approaches

Insight-oriented Approach

Curious about the root causes of your struggles? Insight-oriented therapy delves deep into your past to uncover how past experiences shape your present thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. By gaining a deeper understanding of yourself, you can develop new perspectives and make positive changes.

This therapy focuses on:

  • Exploring your past experiences and how they impact your present
  • Identifying recurring patterns of behaviour and emotions
  • Developing insight into your unconscious motivations
  • Building self-awareness and understanding

By uncovering the underlying reasons for your challenges, you can develop healthier coping mechanisms and create lasting change.

Cognitive Bheavioural Therapy

Feeling overwhelmed by negative thoughts or stuck in unhelpful patterns?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help you break free. This approach focuses on understanding the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. By identifying and challenging negative thinking patterns, CBT empowers you to develop healthier coping strategies.

With CBT, you’ll learn to:

  • Recognize and challenge negative thoughts
  • Develop practical problem-solving skills
  • Build resilience and confidence

CBT is effective for treating a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Feeling overwhelmed by stress or struggling to manage your emotions? Mindfulness-based therapy can help. This approach focuses on cultivating awareness of the present moment without judgement. By learning to observe your thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them, you can develop greater emotional resilience and well-being.

Mindfulness-based therapy helps you:

  • Increase self-awareness: Understand your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations.
  • Manage stress and anxiety: Develop effective coping mechanisms.
  • Improve focus and concentration: Enhance your ability to be present.
  • Enhance emotional regulation: Cultivate emotional balance and stability.

By incorporating mindfulness practices into your life, you can develop a greater sense of calm and inner peace.

Hiteshree M. Dudani answers your questions

  • What advice would you give to someone considering therapy for the first time?

I know that stigma makes therapy sound very scary, but it’s okay. Together, we will figure out your unique journey to well-being. Just try to bring in as much authenticity as you can to our sessions. I will try to hold space for you that allows you to understand and accept yourself.

  • What is a common misconception about therapy that you’d like to clarify?

I feel the idea of therapy holds a lot of misconceptions for all of us. One misconception that I feel deserves our attention is the idea that “Your therapist knows the best”. I truly believe that you yourself are the expert of your life. My role is to help you use that expertise to create a fulfilling life.

  • How do you handle humour in therapy sessions?

Whenever I think of humour in the therapeutic space, I imagine Chandler Bing in therapy. ? Humour allows us to express things that may be difficult to express through general conversation. I would love for you to bring humour to therapy sessions. We will laugh together and also try to understand the meaning the jokes represent in your life.

  • What do you do to create a safe and supportive space for clients in therapy?

I believe that the therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist is the most important factor for any success in therapy. For that, and to create a safe and supportive space, I try to keep my personal biases out of therapy. When I am talking to you as your therapist, I only have your well-being in my mind.

  • How do you approach building trust with clients who may be hesitant to open up?

The things we talk about in therapy can be difficult and exhausting at times. Everyone has their own capacity to deal with such conversations. That is why, I encourage my clients to create boundaries in therapy as well. I will ask you to reveal only that much of yourself that you are comfortable dealing with. You can set the depth of therapy and I will try to meet you just there. Whatever you do bring to therapy, I will hold it with confidentiality and non-judgement.

  • What do you do to ensure your own well-being and avoid burnout?

Being a therapist comes with the cost of feeling emotionally drained at times. In my case, I am also learning entrepreneurship along with upskilling myself as a therapist. This causes additional fatigue at times. To make sure that all this does not interfere with my work as a therapist, I try to take up only as much work as I can deal with. I have also recently found art to be a great source of catharsis and grounding. Plus, I always have Shiree (Chief Happiness Officer at Moon Minds; or doggo) to pet which helps me decompress.

  • What is a recent book or resource you’ve found helpful for your clients (or yourself) and why?

“When Things Fall Apart” by Pema Chödrön is a wonderful book that has helped me a lot. As a Buddhist teacher, Pema Chödrön provides a lot of insight into how hardships can create a path to growth and inner peace. Her compassionate approach to dealing with emotional pain and everyday challenges is very helpful!

  • Which quote do you find yourself often sharing with clients?

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” – Carl Rogers
This beautiful quote has not just inspired my therapeutic approach, but it has also been an inspiration behind Moon Minds. I strongly believe that when we accept ourselves as we are, without judgement and with a lot of unconditional positive regard, only then can we learn to live in serenity.

What people are saying?

If it wasn't for Hiteshree I am not sure how I would have dealt with life. My life has basically been a mess since day 1. By the time I started therapy I was like 18-19 years old. The amount of unhealthy stuff in my mind was just beyond imagination. My thoughts, habits, anger, relationships, everything was messed up. After a couple months of therapy, I started seeing some change. I started feeling less messed up. After like 2 years of therapy I can finally say that I am hopeful in life. the best part of therapy was that hiteshree always allowed me to be myself and I think that has helped me to allow myself to be. I feel less scattered. I know I am still a work in progress but I am finally really okay with where I am. If you are considering therapy just go for it. if you have the right therapist, it will be life-changing.
I’ll probably just cry now. You’ve been the light at the end of the tunnel for me and I hope this universe blesses you with more power that you become a beacon of light and healing for many more. ?✨
