My Therapeutic Approaches

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Feeling overwhelmed by negative thoughts or stuck in unhelpful patterns?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help you break free. This effective approach focuses on understanding the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. By identifying and challenging negative thinking patterns, CBT empowers you to develop healthier coping strategies.

With CBT, you’ll learn to:

  • Recognize and challenge negative thoughts
  • Develop practical problem-solving skills
  • Build resilience and confidence

CBT is effective for treating a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Feeling overwhelmed by stress or struggling to manage your emotions?

Mindfulness-based therapy can help. This approach focuses on cultivating awareness of the present moment without judgement. By learning to observe your thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them, you can develop greater emotional resilience and well-being.

Mindfulness-based therapy helps you:

  • Increase self-awareness: Understand your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations.
  • Manage stress and anxiety: Develop effective coping mechanisms.
  • Improve focus and concentration: Enhance your ability to be present.

Kashish Vora answers your questions

  • What advice would you give to someone considering therapy for the first time?

Whether you’re facing challenges in your personal or professional life, or dealing with unhelpful thoughts, emotions, or behaviors, therapy offers a supportive space and an opportunity for growth. If you’re unsure about what’s bothering you or what you want from therapy, approaching it with openness and optimism is key. Together, we can work collaboratively to identify your goals and develop strategies to achieve them.

  • What is a common misconception about therapy that you’d like to clarify?

The misconception that we listen and give advice as solutions to the concerns presented by the client. We do not advise or suggest. Although it may appear like it; what we actually do is, we become a catalyst in helping the client understand themselves better regarding their patterns, thoughts, triggers and resources. With this insight and awareness, the client is able to come up with alternatives and solutions on their own. This is to make them independent and self-sufficient in the long run.

  • How do you handle humour in therapy sessions?

Using humor helps in finding amusement in stressful situations or reframing them in a more positive light which can help individuals maintain perspective and resilience. It’s like finding the silver lining or seeing challenges as opportunities for growth. Plus, it’s always good to see a smile!!

  • What do you do to create a safe and supportive space for clients in therapy?

For providing a safe and supportive space it is extremely important for me to consciously make a choice to keep my beliefs and values aside and approach everything through the lens of my clients’ beliefs and values. This is extremely helpful in reaching the therapy goals through a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship.

  • How do you approach building trust with clients who may be hesitant to open up?

I like to be genuine, and honest and pay attention to everything that is being said and not being said verbally and non-verbally, this helps me understand my clients better, giving them the space to open up in their own good time. There is no need to hurry, silence is also progress!!

  • What do you do to ensure your own well-being and avoid burnout?

Again, it takes a conscious effort. There is an exchange of energy during sessions, while I get to learn a great deal of things from my clients, I sometimes may pick up certain traits of my clients unconsciously which may be counterproductive for me. So I need to learn and unlearn at regular intervals. Also practicing gratitude and socializing helps me.

  • What is a recent book or resource you’ve found helpful for your clients (or yourself) and why?

The book “Why We Sleep” has been a recent book that has been helpful to me and my clients in understanding the importance of a proper sleep schedule. It has motivated me to actively take part in planning my sleep cycles and cultivate healthy sleeping habits.

  • Which quotes do you find yourself often sharing with clients?

    Change is the only constant.
